Wild swimming in chilly waters isn’t for the faint-hearted but The Wanderlust Women are well-versed in stepping outside their comfort zone to take on a challenge in the great outdoors.

The Wanderlust Women is an initiative born out of the need to normalise Muslim women exploring and being visible in the great outdoors. We are a hiking and adventure group that provides like-minded women with the space, knowledge, and skills to traverse green spaces with confidence.

They are mission-driven, and want to see women gain confidence in using their new-found or re-ignited skills to explore their homelands and beyond. They want to see more Muslim women in outdoor spaces. It’s a community, a safe space, and a place where we can all connect back to our roots, being God-centred as well as healing from past experiences-all through nature.

Shooting completely documentary-style in the Lake District, we followed the Wanderlust Women, an outdoor community group founded by Amira, as they dived into the world of open water therapy with their first wild swimming event. This shooting culminated in a commercial video for Red Paddle Co, exploring their support for community groups & events like this.
