Since its founding in 2016, the Women’s Trad Festival has grown year after year in size, heart, and impact. It has provided a space for learning and connection to thousands of attendees, outdoor professionals, and volunteers. Throughout this time, our ambition has remained constant: to help beginners transition from indoor to outdoor climbing, support women and other marginalized genders in outdoor leadership, and help create an inclusive network of trad climbers.
The theme for the brand film was to show more about the behind the scenes and set-up, as well as a focus on climbers like me – a photo series started by the festival in 2020. film set in the Highlands of Scotland, exploring two women’s connections to their homeland, and how skateboarding fits into wild landscapes.The film explores their relationship to each other, the importance of sharing wild spaces, and seeks to show skateboarding in a different light as well as welcoming others into the space.
